In par with Computer Engineering Industry, the Security Industry also has a wise career move. The following reasons may change your mind to switch over your career to Security Industry where good scope to show your talents and to receive more packages is possible. In 90's the Security Profession was dominated by Security Managers whoever filling in the time between retirement either from Police or from Defence Services and then full time retirement. Security Officers were often not trained and working in the Industry as they were unable to get another Job. These men were considered for the post of Security Officer etc, due to their past experience they had in their Police / Defence Services but they never had any experience in controlling the civilian dominated and unionized Industries. Those days the Security men had poor pay, long hours, low value, low esteem and for many the job of last resort. Now let us look the principle drivers of the Industry who have been called as Directors / Chief Security Officer / Security Officers / Security Chiefs / Security Co-ordinators / Risk Managers etc…, and who have been treated in par with Senior Managers of the Industry who maintains the high status, and dignity. Arguably, three of the most significant drivers have been globalization, the I.T. and communications revolution and the emergency of global terrorism as a threat. Twenty years ago, globalisation was a consideration for the largest companies. Now even small and medium sized companies may have to deal with issues relating to globalisation and with that comes the need for improved risk management. Public awareness of global terrorism, phenomena that has been assisted by development in the I.T. and Communications Sectors, has also placed greater demands on an increasing number of security professionals. The need for a closer working relationship with public authorities and an enhanced understanding of geo-political issues and threats places greater demands on individuals. With public awareness of the terrorist threat has come a general acceptance of erosion in public liberties and greater public awareness of the value of security and risk management. What we have is a situation where the skills demanded from Security Professionals are arising, the value placed upon security by major corporations increasing and public awareness and attitudes security are in general becoming more positive and perhaps better informed. This is a more supportive environment for the development of a career structure in security than has been the case hitherto. Indeed, in a world where the concept of job security and a job for life has long since gone, security is perhaps one of the safer bets when it comes to planning a long term career. It is both global and local, technology and manpower driven, to environment in which it operates is constantly changing, and it is growing and will continue to grow for at least the foreseeable future.
