Report sought on losses in Bidar

Staff Correspondent

Bidar: District in-charge Secretary D.V. Prasad has directed officials to submit to the State Government a comprehensive report of the losses suffered due to the heavy rains in the district this monsoon.

In a meeting to review progress of various schemes in the district on Tuesday, Mr. Prasad asked officials to assess crop loss, loss of lives and cattle, damage to roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

He asked the Deputy Commissioner, Sameer Shukla, to coordinate between all departments. He directed him to form teams of officials who could visit various rain-damaged places and assess the loss.

Mr. Shukla said all department heads had been instructed to submit detailed reports on loss to crops, buildings, roads, bridges and other infrastructure. Providing connectivity to places that had been cut-off by heavy rains was being taken up on priority, he said.

Joint Director of Agriculture Sharanappa Mudgal said crops on over 25,000 acres of land were damaged and preliminary estimates put it at Rs. 12 crore.

Mr. Prasad warned officials not to delay the issue of bonds in the Bhagyalakshmi girl child welfare scheme. He also asked them to make sure that all the paper work remained error-free.

He also said that housing schemes had to be completed on time.

“Officials should ensure that the grants do not lapse due to delay in execution of projects,'' he said.

The Secretary said scholarships due to SC/ST students in 2008-2009 were not paid as yet.
