NEW DELHI: The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee on Tuesday said that elaborate arrangements for waste management and cleaning were in place at all the Games venues, including the Games Village. The Organising Committee has engaged three vendors for primary collection of waste estimated at 163.2 tonnes per day. The vendors have been selected through a global open tender process. . The disposal of waste collected at the venues will be the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the New Delhi Municipal Council. Waste compounds have been set up at all venues from where the civic agencies will collect the waste. A two-bin system will be in place at all the venues with green colour bins for bio-degradable waste and blue-colour bins for recyclable waste. Apart from 46 staff directly hired by the Organising Committee, the vendors will deploy 4,500 staff across all venues.
