KHAMMAM: The renowned Sri Seetharamachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam is all set to get a major facelift with the authorities launching several developmental works including the redesigning of ‘Uttara Dwaram' with generous donations from the devotees at the famous shrine on Thursday.

A woman devotee of Anantapur district had donated a gold-coated Dhanurbanam (Bow and Arrow) to the temple on Thursday. The priests placed Dhanurbanam at the feet of the temple deity and performed puja on the occasion.

The foundations for various developmental works proposed as part of a major developmental plan of action were laid under the aegis of the temple executive officer Chandrasekhar Azad earlier in the day. The comprehensive developmental plan prepared by the temple authorities envisaged reconstruction of the Uttara Dwaram (Vykunta Dwaram), construction of new Yaga Shala and removal of the glossy granite flooring inside the Mukamandapam of the temple and other works in accordance with the ‘Vaastu Sastra'.

When contacted, Mr. Azad said that the Vykunta Dwaram would be reconstructed as per the plan of action approved by the Deputy Sthapathi of the department Lakshmi Narasimha. “The new Vykunta Dwaram is likely to be constructed by December 1 well ahead of the Mukkoti Ekadasi festival,” he said. The glossy granite flooring at the Mukamandapam would be suitably altered to bring out the original flooring designed by the temple architects, he said adding that a new Yaga Shala will be constructed on the temple complex.

Galvalium sheds would be constructed in the temple complex with the support of Hyderabad based donor L.P. Vajpayee for the convenience of the devotees, he said.
