Leprosy officer clarifies

HYDERABAD: Director of Health and State Leprosy Officer B. Sai Babu has clarified that the incident of a woman attempting to kill her leprosy-afflicted daughter was not owing to discrimination but for some other personal matter in the family.

Referring to a report published in these columns on September 1, Dr. Sai Babu in a statement said a detailed report filed by the Kadapa District Medical and Health Officer on Thursday indicated that the 14-year old girlhad taken complete treatment for leprosy, as per national guidelines.
