IT, computer science and computer applications students participated TIRUPATTUR: It was time for post-graduate students of Information Technology, Computer Science and Computer Applications streams to showcase their innovative ideas and talents at the annual two-day Information Technology (IT) Carnival at Sacred Heart College at Tirupattur on Friday. The carnival – ‘SHINE 2010', was organised by the PG Department of Computer Science and Computer Applications of the college, and the first day of the fest began on the theme, “Sink the Silence”. Delivering an address on “Future of IT and You”, Chief Technology Officer, Sedna Space, Chennai, Arockia Raj gave tips on an how one ought to go about one's first job - Learn as much as possible even if the pay is not that good, the company does not matter but environment does, be solution-oriented and technology-oriented, were some of the highlights of his speech to the gathering. He said the industry expected awareness and good attitude from students. “Be passionate towards your goal, take a step-by-step approach and experience helps in refining your steps,” he said. He pointed out that technology was available everywhere, was affordable and available on demand. Competitive platform The carnival included a software demonstration, paper presentation, an IT-oriented round, an animation-oriented event and an event centred on developing a website within an hour, thereby providing a competitive platform for students. Participants from various colleges in Tamil Nadu and other States competed in various events to exhibit their skills. Secretary of the college Fr. K.M. Jose, Principal Fr. Maria Soosai and Additional Principal Fr. Xavier Pakkiam were present. The carnival will come to a close on Saturday with a valedictory address on “Opportunities and challenges to graduates in cyber crime”. ACP Cyber Crime, Chennai, Thangaraju will deliver the address.
