Technopark opens incubation unit at Coimbatore

Thiruvananthapuram: The Technopark Technology Business Incubation [T-TBI] facility opened its 18 {+t} {+h} Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) in Coimbatore. The centre has been set up at Nehru Arts and Science College, Coimbatore.

The IEDC was inaugurated by K.C Chandrasekharan Nair, CFO and Programme Coordinator-New Initiatives Technopark, last week.

Technopark TBI will extend support to the college for coordinating entrepreneurship development activities. The e-learning courses offered by T-TBI will be administered to the college students through the portal www.ttbi.smartguruji.com. T-TBI has many virtual incubation centres across Kerala, and Bangalore.

Inaugurating the IEDC, Mr. Chandrasekharan Nair said the major objective of the venture was to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in campuses by creating a fertile. Observing that more than 90 per cent of the students in the college were from Kerala, he said Technopark would find it encouraging to fill the incubation space inside the campus with student start-ups emerging out of the college IEDC.

He assured the gathering that Technopark TBI would offer all essential support needed for the Entrepreneurship Development (ED) activities of the college including faculty development programmes (FDP) and in conducting Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps (EAC), workshops and seminars.

Technopark Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI) was established as a joint initiative of Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), to provide technology business start-ups the resources and support to evolve into a financially sustainable enterprise. T-TBI provide incubatees with the necessary infrastructure support, technology/ prototype development support, research assistance, help in getting funding and assistance in business consulting. Potential entrepreneurs with innovative ideas are identified through IEDCs in colleges and nurtured until the business takes off.
