HT consumers allowed to buy additional power
Special Correspondent
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has permitted the HT consumers to purchase additional power.
An official release said that the HT consumers could utilise the same over and above the quota available to them as part of restriction and control measures. The HT consumers have been permitted to purchase power both from the generators within and outside the State and also from power exchanges through short term open access on payment of necessary short term open access charges.
Also, the generators in the State are permitted to sell power to any HT consumer irrespective of their load. The necessary short term open access procedures and terms and conditions have been published on the TNEB website.
The TNEB was taking all possible steps to mitigate the problems faced by the consumers in the face of the existing demand/supply gap as per the directives of the State government and TNERC, the release said.
