NADA apologises

NEW DELHI: The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has apologised to freestyle wrestler Joginder Kumar for having caused the confusion that led to his brief exclusion from the Indian team for the Commonwealth Games.

In a letter to the wrestler, the NADA Director-General, Rahul Bhatnagar, wrote on Saturday: “I have learnt from newspaper reports that you have suffered embarrassment and anguish at being wrongly referred to having been tested positive for doping.

The error seems to have occurred since another wrestler of the same name had tested positive. NADA would like to extend its apologies to you for any error that may have occurred in this regard on the part of NADA. Please accept our apologies.” — Special Correspondent
