KOLKATA: A Trinamool Congress delegation on Saturday met West Bengal Director-General of Police Naparajit Mukherjee and submitted a memorandum on “armed” camps allegedly set up by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in some districts, including those affected by Left wing extremism. Partha Chatterjee, Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, later told journalists at the Secretariat that the delegation submitted a list of 93 such camps across the State to the DGP. “These camps are illegal and are being located close to the camps of the security forces,” he said. He said the Trinamool Congress would like the State police machinery to work in a transparent and neutral manner and this had been communicated to the highest police officer in the State. “We are happy after talking to him,” Mr. Chatterjee said. Mr Chatterjee was accompanied by Trinamool MP and Union Shipping Minister Mukul Roy and three former IPS officers.
