Private airlines asked to operate chartered trips to Mysore for Dussera

Special Correspondent

KSTDC request for trips from Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad

CHENNAI: To enable tourists to take part in the famous Mysore Dussera festival, Karnataka government has asked private airlines to operate chartered trips to Mysore from Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, said Vinay Luthra, Managing Director, Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) on Tuesday.

Overwhelming

response last year

Briefing reporters, he said “last year, we had an overwhelming response for the chartered flights operated by Kingfisher to Mysore from Bangalore, while Jet Airways to Hampi.

This made us to extend the special facility to other cities too.

The idea is to popularise the airports in these places. Though the Mysore Dussera festival will be on for a month, the flights will be operated from October 7 to 18.”

Pricing

According to Mr. Luthra, the 2-days and 1-night package tour will be priced around Rs.7,000 - Rs. 8,000 per person that includes stay, food and travel by air.

The package consists of an overnight stay at Mysore and two days of sightseeing. It might take at least a week to 10 days to finalise the arrangement with airlines and 15 to 20 days to finalise the tariff.
