Special Correspondent
Bangalore: The Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science and Technology of the State Government, in association with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is organising a nationwide Rural IT Quiz for students from Class 8 to 12, to enhance IT awareness and to keep them abreast of the latest developments in the field.
The quiz, which has had a successful run in Karnataka for over a decade, is now being extended to other States such as Gujarat, Orissa, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and the northeast.
The regional rounds of the programme will be held in all the States during September and October 2010.
The Principal Secretary, Department of IT and BT, Ashok Kumar C. Manoli, said the finals will be held in Bangalore on October 30, as part of Asia's premier ICT event — “BangaloreIT.biz 2010”, hosted by the Department of IT, BT and Science and Technology, scheduled from October 28 to 30, 2010, at Bangalore.
