The Civil Defence Wing of the SJRC Women's College, led by their leader Chitra Jain, had bagged first prize in the parade; and the team from Kuwaithulla P.U. College led by Mohammed Sultan had received the second prize. Another team of SJRC Men's and Women's College team led by Lokesh Mailar S. had also participated in the parade.

Reni, a member of the civil defence wing of the SJRC Women's College, said that participating in the Independence Day parade itself was a memorable day for her and winning a trophy was a rare achievement for all the 31 girls of the team.

The civil defence wing is planning to enrol 80,000 volunteers and also take up garbage clearance, switching off street lights, tree-planting, and other activities.
