Police mum over ‘missing' journalist
Correspondent
Karwar: The alleged abduction of V.B. Bhat, journalist with a Kannada daily, is shrouded in mystery. Even as the family members V.B. Bhat, journalist with a Kannada daily, alleged that he was kidnapped by henchmen of a local politician with the help of the police, this was denied by the police.
According to them, Mr. Bhat, who hails from Kagal village, left for his father-in-law's house at Areangadi on his two-wheeler. Some people allegedly followed him and kidnapped him at Kekkar village. Village people who saw this alerted his relative. His two-wheeler was found lying on the road.
Though there was a public protest on Wednesday in front of Kumta police station, senior police officials refused to comment on the issue.
