RAJAHMUNDRY: Godavari water levels are increasing slowly following increased rainfall in the catchment areas from Thursday morning. By evening the water level at Bhadrachalam crossed 51.9 feet and at Dowleswaram barrage the level stood at 12.3 feet. According to superintendent engineer V. Venugopal, the second warning level was 13.75 feet and with the increasing water level it was likely that it would touch the second warning level by late Thursday night or early Friday. Collector M. The mandal revenue officer of Devipatnam in Rampachodavaram mandal had been alerted in particular and told to evacuate people residing in low-lying areas in the wake of rising water level. However, the SE said the discharge from Dowleswaram barrage was 11.07 lakh cusecs and from Yeleru canal 5,000 cusecs.
