VIJAYAWADA: The city police produced Devineni Baji Prasad, who is allegedly involved in a case of criminal intimidation and wrongful confinement registered in 2007, in a local court on Thursday. The court sent him to judicial remand up to September 18, but he was later released on bail. According to the police, Jayaprada entered into an agreement with Anne Leela Kumari to purchase a land in Gunadala for Rs. 1.32 crore in 2006. She gave Rs. 15 lakh in two spells towards advance. However, Leela Kumari allegedly registered the same land in the name of her three sons – Srinivas, Sridhar and Sriram Gopal—and refused to register the land in the name of Jayaprada. Subsequently, Jayaprada served a legal notice on Leela Kumari. In the meanwhile, Leela Kumari's sons sold the land to Baji Prasad in 2007 and he was charged with threatening Jayaprada saying that the land belonged to him. Following which, Jayaprada lodged a complaint with the Machavaram police. A case was registered against Baji Prasad and others.
