KCR promises Vikarabad as district

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has promised that Vikarabad in Ranga Reddy district would be among seven new districts to be created in Telangana when it gets its statehood.

Addressing a meeting at Vikarabad on the occasion of admission into TRS of activists from TDP, PR and CPI, Mr. Rao said creation of seven new districts would be the first government order to be issued in separate Telangana.

He refuted claims of real estate brokers from coastal districts that the land value in Telangana would come down in the new State. It was a misleading campaign.

In fact, one acre of land in Ranga Reddy district would cost Rs.10 crore, he added.

He blamed a TV channel for spreading false information that Srikrishna committee member secretary V.K. Duggal had said the panel was examining a proposal to make Hyderabad Union Territory.

Mr. Duggal himself had denied this claim.
