Thiruvananthapuram: Gulf-based industrialist B.R. Shetty has announced plans to launch an Ayurveda Medical College at the upcoming Herbal City in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with the healthcare division of Santhigiri Ashram. Inaugurating a one-day conference on ‘Health and Research in The Middle-East Asian Countries' organised by the Santhigiri Ashram, Dr. Shetty said the proposed medical college would mainly cater to the immigrants living in the region. He said the healthcare model practiced by Santhigiri was exemplary. The preliminary talks in this connection with the promoters of the Herbal City had been concluded and the response was a positive one, he added. Former Minister and cine artist K.B. Ganesh Kumar presided over the seminar. UAE Indian community welfare committee convener K. Kumar, UAE Exchange global operation CEO Y. Sudheer Kumar and Ananthapuri Hospital chairman A. Marthanda Pillai were present in the seminar.
