R.V. Deshpande GULBARGA: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president R.V. Deshpande on Friday said the Congress allegations that illegal mining and export of iron ore was continuing despite the ban, had been substantiated by Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde. Mr. Deshpande told presspersons here on Friday that the Lokayukta in an interview to a newspaper a few days ago had contested the statements made by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa about illegal mining and export of iron ore and stated that they were contradictory. He said according to the Lokayukta, illegal mining and export of iron ore continued and ore from Hagari in Bellary district was being transported to the ports in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Mr. Deshpande said the BJP, which was desperate to win the Kadur and Gulbarga South seats, had been spreading rumours against Opposition parties and was using money and muscle power to woo voters. He said the voters would teach a lesson to the BJP this time.
