HYDERABAD: The Praja Rajyam has demanded an emergency session of Assembly to discuss major transactions of the State government in the last six years in the light of irregularities pointed out by High Court in Outer Ring Road (ORR) project. Addressing a press conference, senior PRP leader and former Rajya Sabha member C. Ramachandraiah said public confidence in governance will be restored only when high budget programmes like irrigation projects, mining leases and land allotments by various urban development authorities underwent strict scrutiny. The Assembly was the right forum for the purpose. Mr. Ramachandraiah said the six year rule of Congress government saw former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy integrating his personal agenda with State agenda in the first five years and the incumbent K. Rosaiah too scared to lead the State on the path of progress. The government not only failed to function as the custodian of public money but allowed leaders and their henchmen to share the spoils. He added that the State had developed a disciplined approach to governance prior to 2004 but it was destroyed by Congress subsequently with reckless programmes. A dangerous trend was seen in the State as some elitist sections took favour from politicians and invested money in corporates. Earlier, the nexus between politicians and criminals was debated but it was politico-corporate nexus now, he added.
