Staff Correspondent

BELLARY: H.R. Srinivas, Commissioner of the Karnataka State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation (KSFCSC), visited the city on Thursday to probe the case of tonnes of maize gone missing from the godowns here.

Two persons, including the manager, have been suspended in this connection. Following the fall in market prices, the overnment intervened, through the KSFCSC, to procure maize by offering Rs. 840 a quintal.

It procured 5.47 lakh tonnes and stored it in godowns. But the stock in some private godowns went missing. This came to light when a trader came to collect his stock.
