Amit's six-wicket haul helps Gowtham Model School to a big win

HYDERABAD: A good spell by Amit (six for nine) for Gowtam Model School, which beat Gurukul by 53 runs, was the highlight of the pre-quarterfinals in the Glendale trophy inter-schools cricket tournament here on Friday.

The scores:

Pre-quarterfinals: Meridian School 93 for three in 15 overs (Fayed 33) bt Sreenidhi International 92 for eight in 15 overs (Siddharth 40 not out).

Glendale Academy 111 for eight (Md. Hamza 55) bt Kennedy International 76 for three in 15 overs.

Nasr 84 for six in 15 overs (Sai Praveen 36) lost to Parkwood 86 for seven in 11.1 overs (Harsh 33, Haneef four for 18, Likhit three for three).

Gowtam Model School 130 for three in 15 overs (Charan Sairam 59, Simha 32) bt Gurukul 77 for seven in 15 overs (Amit six for nine).

Ivy League 33 (Jayasurya four for three, Shiva Dutt three for five) lost to St. Peters 35 for two in 6.2 overs (Jayasurya 30 not out).

CAL Public School 248 for three in 20 overs (Syed Ali Hyder 57, John 66, Praneeth 41) bt International 40 in 11.2 overs (Nitesh three for three).

Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan 62 in 13.2 overs lost to HPS Ramanthapur 66 for four in 12.5 overs (Ankit three for 12).

Manupal shines

Manupal Godhara struck thrice to fashion AMR Construction Ltd's 3-1 win over Remount Veterinary Corps in the Prince of Berar Cup of the Hyderabad Polo Season at Bison Polo Grounds here on Friday.

For the losers, Pandher was on target once.

The results:

NDA 2-1/2 (Kishen Yadav 2) bt Remount Veterinary Corps 2 (Kashyap 2).

AMRCL 3 (Manupal Godhara 3) bt RVC 1 (Pandher).

NDA 4-1/2 (Kishen Yadav 2, Bhavani Singh 1) bt AMRCL 3 (Manupal Godhara 2).

Tennis tournaments

The V.K. Tennis Academy (Madhapur) will organise Shree TMT ITF Junior Grade IV tennis tournament from September 13 for boys and girls.

The qualifying rounds will be held on September 11 and 12 and the event will see players from Thailand, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei and Singapore in action.

Arjun Khade and Prarthana Thombare, both from India, have been given the top-billing in the boys' and the girls' sections respectively.

There will be six qualifiers and six wild card entries in all who will join the 36 others in the main round to be held from September 13.

For CBSE schools

The CBSE cluster VII south zone inter-school tennis tournament for boys and girls will be held at Oakridge International school, Hyderabad, from Oct. 5 to 8.

Entries close on Sep 15.

For further details, contact Mr. Martin, Dean of student activities, or Dennis Raj, the tennis coach at Oakridge school.

OU coaching camp

Osmania University football and netball coaching camp will be held from September 13 at OU Grounds here.

All the players are to report to coaches Yezdani (football) and Someshwar Rao (netball) along with eligibility norms.

Badminton team

Hyderabad district team to take part in the AP State sub-junior boys and girls badminton championship to be held in Mamidala (East Godavari) from September 17 to 19 has been announced.

The team:

Boys: C. Rahul Yadav, K. Sudhanshu Reddy and Akash. Girls: P. Harshpita and M. Krishna Priya .

Cricket selections

Raju's Cricket Club (Jubilee Hills) will organise selection trials to pick an all-rounder to represent the Club in the inaugural Board President's Cup cricket tournament to be held in Maldives from October 11 to 20.

The rest of the team has already been picked.
