Gifted:Prize winners of the cookery contest organised by HYDERABAD: The Eid and Ramzan festivities spilled over into the second round of The Hindu Metroplus cookery contest on Sunday as over 400 women turned up for the cookery contest titled ‘Sravanamasam Sambaralu'. Two huge hangars of the Anupuram Community Hall at A.S. Rao Nagar were filled up by women vying for the coveted prizes sponsored by TMC, Janapriya Engineers Syndicate, Indian Oil Corporation and Chilliez. The women in the age group of 18 to 65 years travelled from as far as of places as Begumbazar and Dilsukhnagar to participate in the event. The creations mostly consisted of traditional foods with a twist and some innovative recipes keeping in mind the on-going Ganesh festival. It was a simple dish called ‘Apple Jamun' created by B. Radha that won the first prize. The second prize was grabbed by Karishma S. Shah who prepared ‘choco walnut semiyan' and the third prize was won by Nirmala for her ‘eggless egg curry'. Five women Vasantha, P.Surekha, Nalini Kumari, Rohi Arora and Panana Unshin, were named for the consolation prizes. Besides, these prizes, 50 lucky winners picked up silver coins, while the bumper lucky dip of a washing machine sponsored by TMC was won by Nirmala Marla. The next leg of the contest is on September 19 at Kukatpally, Imax Gardens Function Plaza. Before the grand finale on October 3.
