TV channel's sting operation brings to light ‘sexual abuse' at the centre being run in Vanasthalipuram HYDERABAD: A sting operation conducted by a vernacular news channel on alleged sexual exploitation in an orphanage in T.V. Colony, Vanasthalipuram, led to the arrest of its founder on Sunday. Minutes after the channel started telecasting visuals, the Cyberabad police raided Siria Orphanage Home and School and enquired with the girls who confirmed the incident. Based on a complaint, police registered a case under Section 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) of IPC against the orphanage founder and secretary Malyadri and arrested him. ‘Sexual exploitation' “Malyadri used to call girls to his room in the orphanage and sexually assaulted them,” said ACP (Vanasthalipuram) B. Srinivas Reddy. He said statements of girls were also recorded and they would be subjected to medical tests. Malyadri, hailing from Prakasam district, started the orphanage in 2006 and now the number has gone up to 125, including 95 girls. He was also running a school for these children. Previously, the home was located at Nagole but due to heavy rains it was relocated to a building under construction at Vanasthalipuram. At loggerheads Inquiries also revealed that the orphanage founder and an MLA were at loggerheads over a dispute for the last few weeks. The legislator is said to have helped him in shifting the home at Nagole to the present building. But differences cropped up between them over constituting a committee to monitor the orphanage's activities.
