India-Gambia friendly cancelled
NEW DELHI: India's proposed international football friendly against Gambia has been called off. The match had been slated for September 19, four days after India plays Namibia at the Ambedkar Stadium.
All India Football Federation (AIFF) sources said the match was called off due to problems regarding venue even though it was always known that chief coach Bob Houghton was never in favour of playing African teams as part of the preparations for the Asian Cup in January.
India is also scheduled to play Yemen and Vietnam next month in Pune. — Special Correspondent
