Telugu Desam leaders seek KCR's arrest for fomenting ‘mindless' violence in State Lumpen elements in TRS chose to attack Naidu's convoy, allege Telugu Desam leaders
IRATE LOT:TDP functionaries burning TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao's effigy in Kadapa on Monday. TIRUPATI: Unruly elements, allegedly belonging to the TRS raining stones on TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu's convoy in Mahabubnagar district received sharp rebukes from State and Chittoor district TDP functionaries. TDP cadres registered their protest against the ‘hooliganism' by torching the TRS effigies in different places in the district, amid heavy sloganeering. They demanded the immediate arrest of TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and others for fomenting ‘mindless' violence in the State. The TDP leaders said at a time when even the Seema-Andhra Congress leaders were hesitant to set foot in Telangana districts to avoid facing the ire of separate Telangana protagonists, it was Mr. Naidu who dared to enter the region to expose the tall talks and empty promises of the Rosaiah government . The TDP leaders said while the Telangana farmers looked happy over Mr. Naidu taking up their cause, it was only the ‘lumpen elements' in the TRS which chose to attack his convoy out of sheer envy over the response he received to his forays into the region. N. Vijayalakshmi, State TDP vice-president said the party cadres would not be taking it lying down if the ‘anarchists' in the TRS thought that they could get away with attacks on their leader. TNSF district secretary Ravi Naidu urged Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister K. Rosaiah and Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy to probe the attack on Mr. Naidu's convoy and also to initiate steps to get the recognition of TRS cancelled for its disruptive activities. KCR warned KADAPA: Telugu Desam functionaries burnt an effigy of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and MP K. Chandrasekhara Rao at Koti Reddy statue circle here on Monday condemning the attack by TRS members on TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu's convoy in Mahabubnagar district. Telugu Desam MLC M. Venkatasiva Reddy, Kadapa constituency in-charge K. Sivananda Reddy, State Minority Cell president Ameer Babu, Telugu Nadu Students Federation district president V. Ravisankar Reddy and leaders K. Balakrishna Yadav, L. Subbalakshmamma and S. Jilani Basha condemned the attack and warned of a severe retaliation. The TRS would have to pay a heavy price if it did not desist from such provocative actions, they warned. TDP men raised anti-KCR slogans. TDP district general secretary M. Venkataswamy Reddy condemned the attack on Mr. Naidu by TRS functionaries and warned its president K. Chandrasekhar Rao to give up such undemocratic actions. The TRS was acting as an agent of Congress and attacking TDP rather than counter the Congress' lopsided rule, he said in a statement. Hand-in-glove KURNOOL: TDP district president Somisetty Venkateswarlu condemned the attack on Mr. Naidu's convoy. Talking to reporters here, he said the TDP supporters were agitating for supply of fertilizer but the TRS which acted hand-in-glove with the ruling Congress carried out an attack in the name of Telangana. He said no where in the history an opposition party attacked another which was carrying out a fight for the cause of the people. ‘No concern' Mr. Venkateswarlu accused TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao of having no concern for the travails of farmers, artisans, and other poorer sections but camouflaged every thing by Telangana sentiment.
