Augustin is champion

MANGALORE: A. Augustin of Kodagu, with five points, emerged champion at the Karnataka State U-25 chess championship at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan here.

Ganesh Kumar of Mangalore was the runner up with four points. Both Augustin and Ganesh Kumar will represent Karnataka State in the upcoming National U-25 chess championship.

Santosh Kashyap (3.5), Praveen Kamath (3) lost to Ganesh Kumar (4), Sameer Ghotane (3.5) bt Shalon Joanne Pais (2.5), Girish Reddy (2) lost to Nikhilesh M. Holla (3), Eulalia A. J. Pereira (3) bt Seema Melita Crasta (2), Hermon Dain Saldanha (2.5) drew with Alwyn Roy Miranda (2.5), Pavan P. Bhat (2.5) bt Ranjan Kotian (1.5), B. Naresh (1) lost to P.J. Ullas (2.5), Swati Shetty (2) bt Praveen Kumar M (1) .
