Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: A 10-member Central team, comprising officials from various ministries, will visit Leh and Ladakh to assess the damage caused by cloud burst and torrential rains.

The team has been formed by drawing officials from the ministries of Road Transport and Highways, Rural Development, Drinking Water, Planning Commission, Health, Power and Agriculture. The team has been formed under Joint Secretary (Kashmir), Ministry of Home Affairs.

Split into two teams, three officials will visit Kupwara while seven are to tour Leh and Kargil during their four-day visit beginning on Tuesday to assess the long-term requirement.

Leh had been hit by flash floods and landslips in August that claimed hundreds of lives, and caused massive damage to homes and communication systems.
