Safari bus hits bear

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: On Saturday, a bear at the Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) suffered a head injury and fractures when a speeding KSTDC bus, used for safaris, hit the animal. “The male bear suffered a contusion and is recovering,” said BBP Assistant Director (Veterinary) B.C. Chittiappa.

This is the second time a sloth bear has been hit by a safari bus. “We have informed the KSTDC about the incident and asked them to take disciplinary action against the driver,” said Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests M.N. Jayakumar.
