Bangalore: Sagar MLA Belur Gopalakrishna, who has publicly declared his desire to join the Cabinet several times in the past, on Monday said he has not indulged in any dissident or anti-part activity. “But I am still aspiring to become a Minister in the Yeddyurappa Government,” he said. Mr. Gopalakrishna told presspersons that he wanted to become a Minister in the interest of the Idiga community. Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa “has the power to induct me into the Cabinet”. Ever since the resignation of H. Halappa, the Idiga community has no representation in the Cabinet. The community is a formidable force in Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada districts, he claimed. Last week, Mr. Gopalakrishna had cautioned Bharatiya Janata Party leaders that denial of a Cabinet berth may compel him to take appropriate action. “I am a senior party MLA. Ishould be given an opportunity to serve the community and the people of the State,” he said. However, he did not reveal his future course of action.
