BANGALORE: The first multi-lingual audio tour guide in Karnataka was launched at the Bangalore Palace on Monday to provide quality information to tourists visiting the palace. The audio tour guides are small light weight MP 3 audio players with headsets and is available in seven languages — Kannada, Hindi, English, Italian, French, Spanish and German. These audio guides have been produced by Narrowcasters who are the largest audio guide services provider in the Asia-Pacific. The Scion of Mysore Royal family Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar and the founder and executive director of Narrowcasters India Penelope Street launched the tour guide. “Many visitors come to enrich themselves with our unique heritage. These audio guides would help them understand and appreciate the collections and history better,” Mr. Wadiyar said. “An audio tour gives the visitor a well researched and precise account of the historical and cultural background of the site, making it informative and fun,” Ms. Penelope Street added. This guide has a recorded script giving a description of the artefacts.
