Subair's century goes in vain

Coimbatore: A.A. Subair's century knock went in vain as Best VPs XI Cricket Club defeated Red Diamond Cricket Club by 29 runs in the TNCA-CDCA second division league for the Unidrive Line Trophy at the TNAU grounds here on Sunday.

Kaleeswar CC 203 for nine in 50 overs (M. Balraj 69, M. Rajesh 47, Syed Noorullah four for 39) bt Friends RC 182 in 48.5 overs; Arumugam CC 143 in 44.3 overs (P. Sivakumar 42, T. Rajasekar four for 37) lost to Wings CC 144 for four in 45 overs (P. Ayyappan 86 not out).

Narrow win for SGCC

At Krishnagiri, Spontaneous Guys Cricket Club edged out TVS Cricket Club by six runs in the TNCA-KDCA second division league at the GPT grounds on Sunday.

The scores:

Spontaneous Guys CC 105 in 22.3 overs bt TVS CC 99 in 20.1 overs (Pradeep 47); Sathguru CC 118 for eight in 25 overs (Palani four for 12) lost to Danger CC 119 for six in 18.2 overs (Suresh three for 18).

Semifinalists spotted

Jamal Mohammed College, Bishop Heber College, St. Joseph's College and AVC College entered the semifinal league in the Bharathidasan University inter-collegiate basketball tournament in Tiruchi on Monday.

Peter prevails

At Udhagamandalam, Chennai's Johan Peter got the better of an experienced V.S.S. Sai of the host team 11-5, 11-5, 11-8 to lift the men's 60-plus singles title in the State-level veterans' table tennis tournament at the Anna Stadium recently. V.S.S. Sai, President of Sai Krupa Welfare Society, gave away the prizes.

AUT-T wins

Anna University of Technology - Tiruchi (main campus) defeated PAB CET 46-34 to win the title in the Anna University of Technology (Tiruchi) Zone-I basketball tournament here on Monday.

The results: Final: AUT-T (main campus) 46 (Bala 12, Senthil 12) bt PABCET 34 (Karthik 16). Third place: JJ CET 44 (Praveen Kumar 13) bt Saranathan CE 15 (Sethuraman 10) .
