KOLLAM: A dharna will be held at the Press Club Maidan here on Wednesday evening to protest against the dismissal of T.J. Joseph, teacher of Newman College, Thodupuzha. The dharna is organised by the Federation of State Employees and Teachers Organisations, All Kerala Private College Teachers Association and the All Kerala Government College Teachers Association. A faux pas In a statement, FSETO district secretary Basil Joseph said while the controversial question paper set by Mr. Joseph was a faux pas and he had unquestionably ignored the fact that such a question paper would hurt religious sentiments, the issue was exploited by extremists to create religious disharmony in the State. While the assault on the teacher was condemned by the public, the college management took the cruel step of dismissing Mr. Joseph from service in the name of the question paper. The dharna is to demand the withdrawal of the dismissal orders. General secretary of the Purogamana Kalasahithya Sangam V.N. Murali will inaugurate the dharna.
