NEW DELHI: Holding her brother and sister-in-law responsible for having ruined her marriage, a 32-year-old woman has allegedly murdered their eight-year-old son at Indra Prastha Extension in East Delhi to “teach” them a lesson. The accused later surrendered to the police. Shivangi had been living with her brother Raj Kumar Gosain and sister-in-law Rita in their flat at Sita Ram Apartments due to strained marital relations. According to the police, she took her nephew Lakshya to the terrace of the apartment on some pretext and strangled him around 3-30 p.m. on Sunday. Dumping the victim's body near a water-tank, Shivangi then surrendered at the Krishna Nagar police station. Shivangi purportedly disclosed that she had been living separately from her husband following a discord. Her brother, a businessman, and sister-in-law once had a quarrel with her in-laws over the same issue. “She felt that the heated exchange ruined the possibilities of saving her marriage and wanted to make her brother and sister-in-law go through the same pain she was subjected to by separation from her husband,” said a police officer. The accused, mother of two children, was produced in a city court that sent her to 14-day judicial custody. The boy's body was handed over to his parents after post-mortem.
