Jats defer agitation, says Hooda

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday claimed that following negotiations by his government, the All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangarsh Samiti deferred its ongoing agitation seeking reservation in government jobs and educational institutions.

Mr. Hooda told journalists that it was unfortunate that one Sunil had lost his life in the agitation in Hisar district. He was killed in police firing when the agitators clashed with the police. The demands of his family had been accepted. These included financial assistance, employment to a member of the family and registration of a case against the Superintendent of Police, Hisar. The government would provide Rs. 10 lakh to the kin of the deceased and it would also help the injured, Mr. Hooda said.
