One killed in accident

KOCHI: One person was killed and 20 others injured when a private bus collided with a tanker lorry carrying drinking water at Kakkanad on Tuesday morning.

The police identified the deceased as M.S. Muralidharan Nair, 55, of Kothamangalam. His body was later taken to the Kalamassery Cooperative Medical College for a post-mortem examination.

Out of the 20 injured, three were admitted to Intensive Care Unit of Sunrise Hospital and rest were discharged after administering treatment, the police said.

The tanker lorry was entering the main road when the accident occurred.

Manoharan of Vandiperiyar, the driver of the lorry, ran away immediately after the accident and surrendered before the police later in the day.
