VIJAYAWADA: Congress leaders in the city on Tuesday hit back at their TDP counterparts, who have been making allegations against Congress leaders of the past and the present. Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu and city Congress president Pyla Sominaidu addressing a press conference at Andhra Ratna Bhavan (city Congress office) criticised former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu for making “denigrating” statements against former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. They said it was unbecoming of Mr. Naidu to make allegations against the late Chief Minister. It was completely wrong to use the name of AICC president Sonia Gandhi to garner credence for the falsehoods being uttered against Rajasekhara Reddy. Aiming their arsenal on Mylavaram MLA Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, the Congress leaders said he had made the city a platform to grab the attention of the media with his “gimmicks”. “Neglecting his own Assembly constituency the MLA is traumatising the devotees of Kanakadurga,” they said.
