KOCHI: The land owners, whose holdings and buildings have to be acquired for the Chathiyath Church to Pottakuzhy Cross road expansion project will be adequately compensated, said a statement issued by the Kochi corporation. The road project was proposed for handling the likely increase in traffic the city may experience after the completion of the Vallarpadam International Container Terminal project. A service road and an overbridge has been proposed at the place. Efforts are being taken to construct the road avoiding turns and curves, said a statement issued by Mayor Mercy Williams on Monday. The land owners will be awarded compensation fixed jointly by the Kochi corporation and the district administration, the mayor said in a statement.
