Up in arms:Members of National Alliance of People's Movements staging a demonstration against the proposed Gundia hydel power project, in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Bangalore: Activists of the National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM) on Tuesday held a demonstration here opposing the Gundia hydel power project, claiming that it would destabilise the Western Ghats.
Alleging that the Government is taking up contractor-oriented projects, they said any affect on the Western Ghats would not only affect Karnataka but the entire country. They said the damage in one sector would have a cascading effect on others.
The activists of NAPM said that they would launch a series of agitations if the State Government failed to stop the proposed project.
