Awareness expedition
VILLUPURAM: A team of 10 differently abled persons, all paraplegics, who have set out on five motorcycles from Kanyakumari to Chennai, reached here on Thursday.
Collector R. Palanisamy, District Revenue Officer N. Venkatachalam, Public Relations Officer M. Palanisamy, and Welfare Officer for the differently abled Thangavel received them. According to K.J. Pushaparaj, who led the team, the expedition was undertaken as a thanks-giving gesture to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for having created a separate ministry for their sake. It was also intended to inform the Chief Minister about the problems faced by paraplegics and seek remedial measures. Two more differently abled persons from Villupuram joined the team.
