Batra and Bhatia make finals

NEW DELHI: Garvit Batra made the under-16 and under-14 finals of the boys' section in the Gopal Krishan Batra memorial AITA Super series junior tennis tournament at the Bal Bharati School, Pitampura, on Thursday.

In the girls section, Ria Bhatia made the finals of both the age groups, at the Brilliant Convent School, Pitampura.

Ria beat the top-seeded Simran Kaur Sethi in three sets to make the final in the under-16 section. She will face Jasmine Kaur Bajaj.

The results: Semifinals:

Boys: Under-16: Fatehdeep Singh bt Dhruv Goel 6-1, 6-1; Garvit Batra bt Kapil Guraiya 6-1, 6-2;

Under-14: Garvit Batra bt Richie Aggarwal 6-2, 6-4; Shailender Boniface bt B. R. Nikshep 6-3, 6-0.

Girls: Under-16: Ria Bhatia bt Simran Kaur Sethi 6-3, 4-6, 6-2; Jasmine Kaur Bajaj bt Shivani Dabas 6-1, 6-2. 

Under-14: Ria Bhatia bt Devanshi Bhimjiyani 6-1, 6-4; Roma Chandran bt Nikita Anand 7-6(4), 6-2 .
