JKC lifts trophy

VIJAYAWADA: Guntur's JKC College lifted the Darapaneni Vengaiah Memorial Trophy for Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate basketball tournament for men by garnering six points here on Thursday.

JKC won all the three league matches to finish on top. JKC defeated DAR College, Nuzvid 59-30, Vijayawada's Andhra Loyola College 41-14 and Gudivada's Vidyalaya Degree College 35-14.

DAR College and Vidyalaya Degree College took the second and third places. Siddhartha Academy secretary Nalluri Venkateswarlu gave away the prizes.

The league results:

JKC bt DAR 59-30, DAR bt ALC 37-25, Vidyalaya bt ALC 52-48, JKC bt ALC 41-14, DAR bt Vidyalaya 42-22, JKC bt Vidyalaya 35-14.

North Zone 176 for two

North Zone was 176 for two in 47 overs at the end of the second day play in reply to South Zone 358 in the three-day ACA u-19 inter-zonal tournament for P. Narasimha Raju Trophy at Anantapur on Thursday. Shiva Charan Singh's century for South was the highlight of the day.

The scores:

South Zone 358 in 131.2 overs (Shiva Charan Singh 102, Y. Jagadish 57 n.o., Jayawardhan 46, C. Vinod Kumar 41, Kamaruddin 34, Bharani three for 50, Chiranjeevi three for 50) vs. North Zone 176 for two (Srikar Bharath 85 n.o., M.U.B. Sriram 45).

Andhra posts win

Andhra women's team defeated China by two wickets in the ACA Challenger Cup at IGMC stadium here on Thursday. The match between Karnataka and Goa ay ACA academy at Guntur was washed out due to rain.

The scores:

China 108 for seven in 40 overs (Sun Huan 24, Salma Banu three for 20, Monica Sai two for 15) lost to Andhra 109 for eight in 35.2 overs (S. Rama Devi 25 n.o, Haijee two for 13).
