R.V. Debating Tournament from September 18 to 21 50 teams to participate in the event Bangalore: The Debating Society of R.V. College of Engineering is conducting the R.V. Debating Tournament from September 18 to 21 in Bangalore. As many as 50 debating teams, including those from foreign countries, will participate in the tournament. Eight teams that secure the top position in the first six rounds will progress to the quarter final. The total prize money is Rs. 1.5 lakh. The tournament will be held in the Asian parliamentary debating style with two teams of three speakers each debating on a motion released on the spot every round. Teams from National University of Judicial Sciences, Kolkata; National Law School of India University, Bangalore; National Law University, New Delhi; Loyola College, Chennai; NMIMS, Mumbai; Christ University, Bangalore; and NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad; besides teams from Thailand, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and the United Kingdom will be participating in the debating tournament. While the opening ceremony will be held at Hotel Chancery on September 18, debates will be held on the RVCE campus on Mysore Road from September 19 to 21. The Hindu is the media partner for the event. ‘Save Our Sky Club' Meanwhile, students of R.V. Institute of Management (RVIM) have launched ‘Save Our Sky Club' to create awareness on steps to be taken to protect the ozone layer. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the student group, comprising Vishwanath, Sanket, Sudarshan, Swathi B.R, Rekha S. and Swetha Priya, said the club would conduct model exhibition in schools and colleges, organise garden competition to promote small gardens at homes, and organise seminars, conferences and street plays. The club will function under RVIM Centre for Social Responsibility.
