Royal welcome:Minister for Urban Development S. Suresh Kumar and Mysore Mayor Sandesh Swamy inviting Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar to the Mysore Dasara at the Bangalore Palace on Thursday. Bangalore: Law and Urban Development Minister S. Suresh Kumar and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar on Wednesday said that the administration in all the districts have been advised to highlight the royal families, who ruled their areas, in the tableaux to be exhibited in the Dasara exhibition to be held at Mysore from October 8 to 17. Speaking to presspersons after holding a meeting with Deputy Commissioners and Chief Executive Officers of the zilla panchayats on the cultural programmes to be taken up during Dasara, the Ministers asked them to give three concepts about the royal families. One of them would be selected by the Government before September 20. It would be entrusted to the Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts, Mysore. Mr. Kumar told them that tableaux should be lively, so that they could be exhibited in their district headquarters even after Dasara festivities. The Minister and Mysore Mayor Sandesh Swamy and officials of the Mysore City Corporation went to the Raj Bhavan and invited Governor H.R. Bhardwaj to inaugurate the function. Then they called on Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, former MP, at the Bangalore Palace and invited him and his wife, Pramoda Devi, and sisters to the function. Mr. Wadiyar told the Government not to place the howdah on Balarama for a long time because of its advancing age. He said that Mr. Wadiyar had not put any pre-condition to attend or to give howdah for the function.
