Caste enumeration separate exercise: Sonia

CHENNAI: National Advisory Council chairperson Sonia Gandhi has conveyed to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi the decision of the Union Cabinet that caste enumeration would be conducted as a separate exercise from June 2011 and completed in a phased manner by September 2011.

This was communicated by Ms. Gandhi through her letter of September 13 in response to the Chief Minister's letter of August 14.
