TIRUMALA: Thousands of devotees witnessed the ‘Surya Prabha Vahanam' organised on Friday - the seventh day of the ongoing ‘Brahmotsavams' of Lord Venkateswara. The processional deity of Lord Malayappa mounted atop the golden Surya Prabha Vahanam was taken around the Mada streets of the hill temple in a grand procession. A special team of over twenty florists were specially commissioned from Coimbatore from the neighbouring State of Tamil Nadu to decorate the chariot and design the garlands required for the processional deity. Later in the afternoon ‘Asthanam' was organised at the Ranganayalula mandapam situated inside the temple. This was followed by the grand procession of the ‘Golden' umbrella from the Kalaynakatta complex. The members of the erstwhile Mirasidar families went around hill temple in a procession and handed over the umbrella to the temple authorities. The golden umbrella will be fixed atop the mammoth wooden chariot that will be taken out as part of the ‘Rathotsavam' on Saturday. The day came to an end with the procession of ‘Chandra Prabha Vahanam' in the night.
