Tuticorin: Additional bus services would be made operational from Saturday in view of Nava Thirupathi celebrations, S. Murugan, General Manager, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Tirunelveli region, said on Friday. After assessing the situation, transportation and other arrangements including food, water and towel would be made for devotees for five consecutive Saturdays from September 18 to October 17. “The bus fare is Rs. 250 per head. Buses will start from Tirunelveli and cover the religious sites including Srivaikuntam, Natham, Thirupuliankudi, Perungulam, Rettai Thirupathi, Thenthiruperai, Thirukolur, Alwarthirunagari and Karungulam of Tuticorin district. Besides, Nanguneri and Thirukurungudi of Tirunelveli district will be covered,” he added. Buses were scheduled to leave the new bus station at Tirunelveli from 7 a.m. and it would return at 8 p.m. on the stipulated days. “We are attending to a lot of enquiries from the devotees from many cities including Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. We are anticipating a huge flow of devotees this time. Reservation counters are also set up exclusively at the new bus station in Tirunelveli. Reservation has already commenced from September from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m,” Mr. Murugan added. Since the travel agents and private run transporters were charging exorbitantly , the TNSTC had taken proper precautions to reduce their expenditure and assured safe journey , he added.
