Kolkata: The West Bengal government has appointed an international agency to work out a “brand platform” for the State that will help break existing perceptions and chalk out a futuristic vision of the state. State government officials said that Saffron Consultants (SC) based in Spain will take inputs from local people and factor it into a report they may submit in November. The report will try to break existing perceptions about the state and search for its unique features. The State government officials held a meeting with SC executives. A 10-member committee, comprising secretaries from the departments of home, agriculture, education (higher and school), science and technology, commerce and industry and panchayat and rural development as well as the chief secretary and the information and cultural affairs, has been formed to oversee and guide the branding exercise, which is set to cost the State over Rs 1 crore.
