Veerendra Heggade invited to inaugurate Dasara
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: The dharmadhikari of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatha Kshetra, Veerendra Heggade, was traditionally invited to inaugurate the 10-day Mysore Dasara festival by the district in-charge Minister S. Suresh Kumar and Mysore Mayor Sandesh Swamy here on Friday.
A team of officials, led by the Minister and the Mayor of Mysore, called on the dharmadhikari at his residence on Vittal Mallya Road on Friday, to extend the formal invitation. The Minister honoured him by presenting him with the traditional Mysore peta, shawl and garland. “The Government is celebrating this year's Dasara with additional pomp and gaiety. Please come and inaugurate it,” the Minister requested the dharmadhikari. Accepting the invitation, Veerendra Heggade said it was an honour to inaugurate the “nada habba”. “It is a festival that depicts the rich culture and heritage of our State. Mysore is our State's crown and I am privileged to inaugurate the festival. I thank the Government on behalf of all devotees of Dharmasthala for giving me this honour,” he said.
