Goa seeks German Consulate's help to record statement of abused minor
Special Correspondent
PANAJI: The Goa government has sought the help of the German Consulate in contacting and recording the statement of a German minor girl who was allegedly sexually abused in Goa nearly two years ago by Rohit Monserrate, son of State Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate.
The State government conveyed its decision in this regard to the Goa Children's Court on Thursday during the trial of the case.
Three weeks' time
The court has granted three weeks' time to the government to contact the minor girl and her mother for recording their statements.
The trial has been adjourned to October 8.
Abusive messages
Mr. Monserrate had allegedly sexually abused the girl and used to send her abusive text messages.
The girl's mother filed a complaint against the accused with the Goa Police on October 2, 2008.
Children's Court
Goa has a Children's Rights Act and a Children's Court which deal with sexual abuse cases of minors very stringently.
